Disposable Propane Fitting?

Disposable Propane Fitting?

For a while now I've been trying to find a fitting that will attach to a disposable propane cylinder. Not an adapter that converts to something like a BBQ, but rather an adapter/fitting that provides something more useful, like NPT 1/8" or NPT 1/4", with the post necessary to open the internal valve.

I've been googling and googling, and not finding.

Anyone have a suggestion? If I had an appropriate holder for my boring bar I'd just make one out of a chunk of hex stock... lol.

Do you mean the type that would fill a 1 lb bottle from say a 20 lb cylinder?

I've seen those... what i'm looking for essentially is half of it - the part that screws onto the disposable propane tank, and has a 1/8" or 1/4" NPT fitting on the other end.

I just wish someone made a screw on cap for partially used cylinders. Once a cylinder has been used they seem to leak.

I tend to empty them fairly quickly... so I've never had the leaking problem.

I have this propane/oxygen benzomatic torch that keeps me in a full supply of empties.

We use a lot in scouts camping then put the partial bottles back on the shelf. When we go camping a month later many of those partial bottles are now empty... I made a few "caps" out of old lantern valves but even tho they are painted bright florescent orange they get lost.
