Rip?!

Something BAD happened to the good ol 93 F-150 today, I was driving home and as I pulled into the driveway I hear a big CLUNK and I notice the 4x4 light is on, so I go to move the lever thinking it was something to do with that, well I didnt want to break it because it is brand new and these are famous for breaking!

Anyway when I grabbed the lever, it was moving very strangely, now I was getting a bit curious at the moment, so I go under the truck and I can see the transfer case and stuff in plain view....the damn crossmember that supported the tranny and transfer case broke on the passenger side!! Oh you better believe Im pissed, Oxidation problems galore on this beast....is this the end?!

Question is, can items like that one be ordered/bought somewhere or should we look for one out of a wrecked one or something....or is it time for a 2007 F-150?! Ford or aftermarket...Im guessing this would be a Ford part if advailable... I need help bad, this is a daily driver and well it has alot of attachement to it on my part and I dont want to see it die!!

I did drive a 05 F-350 Lariat yesterday, ohhhhh man if I had to replace the 93 with that, it would be tough at first but...wow haha I could learn to adapt!

Dude a new truck will be atleast 35,000 bucks for a decent 4x4. You can fix that crossmember with a junkyard part or try broncograveyard.com. Did the actual member snap or just where it was riveted? You can bolt that back up...

Well that sucks sorry to hear that but yeah you probably could order them in somewhere but my guess they would be fairly expensive i think your best bet would go to the junkyard and get one from there..

I replaced the tranny cross member on our 1990 Ranger this summer, one of the local Ford dealers had it in stock!!! All hope is not lost...

How good are you at fabricating, a new one shouldn't be that hard to make.

No a new one wouldn't be that bad to make but grabbing one at the junkyard would be a pain in the ****. That crossmember is a toughy to get out.

I'd just go buy one, I'm sure you can find one at national parts depot, or an online ford parts distributor...like blue oval truck parts (sponsor here).

Yeah we ordered up a brand new one this morning, we will get it patched up! We decided on brand new because you might as well spend the money on something that hasnt been stressed already. It looks pretty nasty under there though, I hate to say the Flareside is not long for this world. Yeah for a 07 Replacement of roughly the same truck, it would be 35K or so...and hell the new "Flareside" bed, that is NO flareside!

The fun part I think is gonna be puttin this member in down there. Hey I was thinking, I dont know if you guys remember my post about the clunk when you accelerate, you dont think a busted up cross member would cause that clunk?! I remember bad engine/tranny mounts could be a culprit.

Could be the cause of the clunk.

You might want to really look at the condition of your engine mounts while your at it. You may of ripped them depending on how far down the transfer case was hanging and how much the crossmember still supported.

After that tranny mount, nothing is holding that assembly up except the engine mounts which are not strong in that direction.
