they don't do it if you just take the truck in for an oil change do they? and if they do, do they tell you or have to tell you everything they are going to do to the truck?
just wondering, i took my truck in today for its first oil change, the idiots plugged my egr back in for me and was wondering if they would also reflash with some wierd program that would make me lose like 5mpg or something like that.

They Can/will flash it when it comes in anytime. our local ford Dealership, checks the vin. If there is a new version for the truck then they will re-flash the truck. Most of the reflashing is done when a truck comes in for service though.
I reccommend to all my customers, that when taking the truck anywhere near the dealer to flash it back to stock just in case.
Look at it from the technicians stand point. An unplugged EGR is not correct. In the old days you used to tune a car with carburetor settings, idle adjustment, and timing. To adjust your 6.0L from the factory settings a technician updates with a reflash. When your truck is serviced you could be prone to have an existing update performed to keep your truck to current standards.
I don't know the protocol of every dealership. My technician and I have a very good understanding about reflashes...
I can tell you that at the dealership I use, a re-flash at an oil change would never happen. The people that do the oil changes aren't even in the same area as the diesel techs, and I'm not even sure they know were the OBD-II plug is or can even be considered techs. Their sole purpose in life is to do oil changes, check the tread on my tires, and then lie about having checked everything else on the "Diesel Multi-Point Inspection Report Card". A real diesel tech never even takes a look at my truck.
Still new to the diesel thing so is a reflash required or can it run through its entire life without one? I've read the horror stories of people losing fuel mileage and other things from this. I really enjoy the way the truck runs now and wouldn't want to change anything.
Thanks
