My 2003 Escape will lock the doors automatically and randomly. It will keep doing this causing the horn to honk and the lights to flash. It has remote locking, I took the battery out of the key fob to see if the remote was the problem, it wasn't. Does someone know what controls the door locks and where it is located? I took it to the dealer and they said if it didn't act up they wouldn't be able to locate the problem. Of course it didn't do it while they had it.<O</O
we had a town car once that would lock the doors whenver the battery lost power and was reconnnected, and pretty much everytime it happened the keys were in the ignition - doh !. Perhaps your power supply is being interrupted intermittently ?
I replaced the generic electronic module (GEM) problem solved. But it was after I was gone for a few days and the door locks beat themselves to death. My wife didn't know what to do, I was in the U.P. of Michigan where she couldn't get in touch with me. I meant to show her how to disconnect the battery but didn't. Had to replace 3 door locks and the rear hatch door lock, took to the Ford dealer because I didn't have time to deal with it. $900 bucks!!! later it's fixed. I am not happy with my Fords lately, small stupid stuff going wrong but costing me big bucks.
