Hey everybody i got a question i would like to know what would be the weight of a 1979 F150 Ranger XLT Reg Cab long box its got a 460 but aint in the truck engines gone most likely has stock rims with stock tires everything else is there except the engine has an a auto tranny im guessing a C6? i think this truck is a trailer special but the truck is pretty far away from me so i dont know i would like to know what would be the weight of it without the engine in it or with it in dont matter and how much would the 460 weight Thanks for the help id appreciate if the weight numbers where as accurate as possible... thanks again
I have a '79 F150 regular cab long bed. The actual measured weight of the empty truck is 4,180lbs. Mine has a 302/C6 combo and I've been told a 302 weighs 475lbs. Somebody correct me on the engine weight if that is wrong. That should get you in the ballpark.
my 302 f150 weighs 4000 roughly whenever i go to the dump scales but it think they mess with it because i weigh 190 and when i get off the scales it goes down about 250-300 lbs lol so yea
Weird how that works eh well thanks again for the help kind of confusing and ironic that these are called 1/2 tons but are actually more than half a ton just like my dad said they where actually made out of something back then.....
Man! I never realized they were that light A new f150 has more metal I guess
Lol that really sure aint light to me a old reg cab long box weighs 4000 to 5000 lbs depends on options of course but they weigh probably as much as a newer F150 supercab or crew older ones
The new F-150s weight about 3 tons, which is far from light.
They don't have more metal, but the frame is alot bigger(it's fully boxed in), compaired to the c channel frame on our trucks. The rear axle in the 1/2 ton in 9 3/4" and in ours it's 9", and all the options they have add up.
The 97-03 models didn't rearly weight 3 tons though, just the 04-06s really packed on the weight.
