Missing compressor fluid?

Hi,

I have an '85 F-150 that I put a new compressor on. I put 7 oz. of oil into the new compressor before installing it and two in the evaporator.

I charged the system but the new compressor made a horrible noise. I pulled it to return it and dumped the oil from it. I was careful and measured all that came out.

Only 2 oz. of oil came out after putting 7 in. Is this expected? I'm guessing the 5 oz. that are missing went through the system.

When I vacuum the system again to install the new compressor, will that oil get vacuumed out?

Thanks,
Sal

The vacuum will only pull the gas in the system and any moisture that may be present. You are correct that the missing 5 oz's went through the system.
