Helped my weak PS Pump

Was having issues with PS Pump not turning wheels while at Idle when brake was applied.

Put new front pads on this weekend. Old ones had 3/16" - 1/4" pad left, still some life left but after putting the new ones on my Wheels turn with no problem while at Idle with brake applied now.

That was my first thought Cuda

I guess that the extra pedal travel I was having to apply the brakes was using some of the Hydrboost and putting a load on the PS Pump

i saw this about a half hour, and i was like HUH? too.

i am thinking that the increased width of the pads means less fluid in the caliper, meaning more fluid in the rest of the brake system.. huh i don't know where i'm going with this, so ill stop.

Les pedal travel = less fuid circulating through the hydro booster = easier wheel turning. Makes sense to me.

On a side note, AGR ( www.agrperformance.com )makes a "tweaked" ps pump for the Super Dutys. It's listed at $255 on their site. It appears to be the old style metal resevoir type pump that they tweak for more fluid and pressure output. It does require you to modify the bracket though to accept the different style pump.

Not sure. It looks like it's the old 70's Ford pass car metal style resevoir. To be honest I can't picture a Delco ps pump to know if that's the one or not!

This pump is now on my TO DO list. I've got some other PM issues to take care of first though.

Link doesn't come up for me. Autozone stocks it? You know what you're right! Didn't the old Lincolns have the hydroboost brakes too????? That's got to be the pump AGR is using?!????? I wonder if it's the exact pump that AGR uses or if they still modify it???? I'm curious to know?

WA.Ranger tell us more........

I searched and searched. Autozone has it, special order for $215 and some change. I emailed Summit and got a reply saying that they would match the price. The part number through Autozone is 867257.

Good question. I'll have to go and see what they say on them unless some else chimes in. I would think so.
