just bought a f-250 idi for cheap.no compression in cyl#5 all other have 400psi do the pistons and rings hold up?I have a feeling that its a burned valve.any thoughts would help please.
I'm new to this.

Bring bad cylinder up to TDC, then start pumping in regulated shop air, you will soon tell where the problem is by listening for where the air is escaping from, intake, exhaust, or rings if your pull the oil filler cap!
I would pull the valve cover and pull the rockers off #5.
Then let the piston go to BDC when you apply the air to it.
Air out the exhaust is burnt exhaust valve.
Air out the intake is burnt intake valve.
Air out the oil fill is bad rings.
Air out the radiator is blown head gasket, cracked block, or cavitation.
During actual tear down you may find the problem is actually in the head though.
