Engine/Tranny Swap From Ford Van

Will I encounter any major problems swapping an engine (302/351w) and automatic tranny from a 1978 Ford van into my 1968 chassis? The only thing I see that would be different is the tranny and oil dipsticks. Also since I don't have the 302/351w engine towers will the ones from the van work? any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will need a different oil pan for the engine, since the van uses a rear sump and the truck (if 2wd) uses a center-sump pan. The tranny dipstick will be fine, even a benefit since the truck dipstick was really low behind the head.

Center sump? What years? All the 302's I've seen in 69-79 F-series have a front sump.
Not sure about the van engine mount brackets, but any 302 mounts from a 69-79 will work.

Thanks for the input. Now that I've seen and bought the van I have positively ID'd the engine as a 351w and it appears that the engine towers/perches won't work from the van. I'll have to take a closer look at the oil pan on the van and try to find a truck 351w to compare it to. If anyone has the 302/351w towers/perches to part with I may be interested. Seems that all the trucks around here have either a 360 or 390, apparently the small block was not popular with the farmers and ranchers in the area.
thanks,
Mark
