Just let your insurance fix it, or a man with your money shouldn't have no problem taking it to a body shop, or has your new wife spent it all ha ha.

Yea... i dont report to insurance. i have it, but i don't like the permium going up. i was hoping to fix it myself and keep the fix under 200, then i wont have to report to insurance. the repaint doesn't count toward repairs. it really angers me.

I would check with your local dealer, they usually keep a dent and touch up guy in their rolodex who specializes is repairing dings and dents, and blending the paint so youd never know. Talk to that guy, it should be under $200, especially if you speak in cash.

A junkyard would be a good place to find your trim pieces, if your fender is dented, sometimes it's cheaper to buy an aftermarket fender than trying to repair an oem fender, but would require more paint. We have a company around here called Dent Wizard, they come out to your house and pull dents.

To save money, you might want to consider doing the body work yourself then letting someone else paint it. Depending on where it is, pulling out the dent with a puller or pounding it out, then filling in as needed isn't that difficult. Depending on how much you can pull or pound out, you then just need to fill it in with bondo, or, if you are lucky, maybe just some spot putty, sand, prime and wet sand to smooth. It is not that difficult on a truck as they don't have the complicated lines like many cars.

I also agree with Bob J's idea on painting. Many people don't know it, but most shops as well as dealers have a guy or two they use for minor dings and dents that happen when vehicles are in for service. It is one of their little secrets as this kind of damage happens all the time. The owner of the shop I go to has two guys he knows that he can call if something happens. Both work out of their home garages and can match paint like nobody's business. With no shop overhead, they are inexpensive and fast. If you get the damage restored yourself, prime it and have it final coat ready, then can get a painter like this, you'll save alot of money and it will look like it never happened.

If you do decide to do it yourself, 3M makes alot of the best body repair stuff. NAPA carries most of it and sometimes you can even find it at Wally World.
