I am looking for a programmer and exhaust for my 05 f-150. I don;t care about price or how it sounds. Does anyone know what programmer or exhaust I can get the most power out of is? Thanks for your time!!
From all the testing I have done, the best power gains come from a BamaChips Custom tuned Xcalibrator 2, and a Magnaflow cat back system.
Check out our site, we sell all these parts, and even have a nice combo kit that includes the Xcalibrator 2, Magnaflow Catback Exhaust, and a JLT intake.
Ive done quite a bit of research and testing on my own 2004 F150, so feel free to ask any questions.
I was looking for opinions....not a sales pitch!!!!!!!!

Why does that not count as an opinion. I could sell you any part I wanted to. I could push the parts that i make the most money off of. But I dont. I was modding my 2004 F150 long before I had this company, and it just so happens Ive tested quite a few parts along the way. You asked for the best parts. You have my educated suggestion, take it or leave it. You could always get an Edge and flowmaster...
If I had to do it again, I would have a JLT intake and either an SCT XCal or a Diablosport Predator.
I have the AFE Stage II CAI and Superchips Flashpaq. The AFE is nice, but I know from past experience, JLTs intake flow. As for the programmer, the Flashpaq works OK, it made an improvement, but its canned tunes. No customization.
I think the next option will be gears. The 3.73:1 just isnt enough for a 31+" tire. The stock tire on the Harley F150 is 275/45/22. The overdrive is steep in the 4r75 so the HWY RPMs are low enough. The City MPG will increase significantly and the HWY will not take a hit in my mind. The truck likes to be @ 2200-2300RPM on the HWY. I think I will still drive in that range after a gear change. We will just be traveling 75-80MPH instead of 85-90MPH.
Its a 2WD truck, I have to be able to find some more fuel economy. I want 16-18MPG. I should be able to get there, driving like a human of course.
When you look at gears, i would seriously consider 4.56 gears, they will really get your truck moving, without sacrificing too much on the highway. I have been recommending them for a while, and the guys that use them love them!
For a simple plug and play system, do the following: MAGNAFLOW #16612 (very easy install) and the EDGE EVO. You will love the combo and you could top it off with a K&N FIPK. Good Luck.....Modding is a blast!!!!!Keep us updated on what you do.
My next mod is also gears. I put 275/55/20 tires and wheels and it just killed the low end, and it is harder on my clutch since I drive a 5 speed manual. I am going to junk the 3.55 and go for 4.10, on a 31.9" tire thats about right in the middle of ecconomy and performance. 4.56 on my 5 speed I think would be way to low and put my hwy rpms at about 2500+.

So the Edge and flowmaster are at the bottom of the bucket??
4.56:1 will be too much. However, 4.10:1 I think will be just right. My buddy went with 4.56:1 with his wife's truck and her tire is a little taller than mine, and its just a whisker too low.
I have an Edge and a Flowmaster 50 series SIDO. I love this combination. No more throttle lag, nice crisp shifts and great performance. I tow with my F-150. The trailer is about 8500-9000 lbs loaded. I pull it all day long at 60-65 MPH and get respectable MPG with it. Without the camper I usually see 17-19 MPG. I love these mods and wouldn't drive a new electronic thottle F-150 without them!
And the other member that towes 8K-9K LBS with an F150 @ 65MPH. What he did not mention was the leg cramp from the accelerator having to be held all the way out by the radiator.
Hopefully by spring Edge will have a NOS system that will go hand and hand with the Evolution. For some reason it keeps getting pushed back. They are now saying Christmas, but only time will tell. They have been spending alot of time getting the Evolution ready for chevy and dodge gas trucks. I would go with the Edge, to many other great features come with it. I dont know if or how many more horses you get with a custom, but I would go to Bob Jusnes if that is what I was looking for.
Why the sales pitch on a cat back system? Going with a cat back system doen't increase your air flow through your exhaust. It changes the pitch of the exhaust but, the bottleneck is the downpipe and cat.
