I have a 62 f100 stepside w/ 292 and 3 speed manual. What is a good carbureator replacement?
Something with more punch than stock, but not hot rod material. Also, what is a good header/exhaust setup? Does anybody have a good idea (i.e where to get parts and how much $) for a brake rebuild or conversion? Any thoughts are much appreciated.

jet, If you want some more butt kick, you really need to go to a newer larger engine. I dought that you would be happy with the little improvement that you got over what is in there now.

The edelbrock/carter carbs are good choice. They perform well on trucks and are relatively inexpensive. If you have an automatic, make sure the carb comes with the kick-down adapter. I'd stay away from Holley if you plan to do any off-roading, they have a tendency to slosh over and flood. They also have an annoying power valve that tends to break if you ever back-fire. Edelbrock/carter (they are identical, both made by weber) use a metering rod for power enrichment which will never go bad.

Not sure who would make a 4-bbl intake for your engine though...
