Has anyone replaced there lower intercooler hose with the newest blue hose that has orange on the inside? Does the orange inside prevent oil from seeping throw the hose like the older one does? No matter how good you clean the old one and even silicon it, it doesn't matter because it seeps through the hose not the clamping area. So im hopping this new design wont allow oil to seep throw.
Im talking about the lower blue hose that has the two rings on them. The ford dealership has the newest one that had a orange layer on the inside that I assume is to prevent oil from seeping throw. Does anyone have this one on, and does it keep it from seeping oil?
i havent seen the intercooler inlet hose with the silicone coating on it but usually i replace the one on the turbo. yes the silicone coating does prevent oil seepage through the boot
I have 06 but mine still has the old design blue hose. I heard that they had a new one so I went to the dealership to check it out. It basicily looks the same on the outside but the inside has a thin orange silicon layer on it, which is solid silicon instead of woven like the outside. You would think it would be impossible to seep oil through this one but I haven't bought one yet to test it out. You said you have replaced the hose buy the turbo? Are you taliking about the one with the elbow in it? Does this one have problems too?
the one with the elbow is bad about leaking, and if you look at some of these trucks and the rear center of the hood is stained or dirty with oil due to the boot allowing oil to pass through the material.
I'm telling you there is money to be made in the aftermarket arena by selling a replacement quality elbow hose for these trucks. Perhaps someone knows where we can get some or one of the site sponsors has a solution...
I dont know about a new design for the elbow one. The one I replaced today was the lower one, the old one was seeping pretty bad. The new hose does feel a little bit stiffer and is a tiny bit shorter. All it really is, is like taking hign temp silicon and spreading it evenly on the inside of the hose. Of course it is done by a machine and looks a lot better then that and probabliy will hold up better then that.

So do they make a new design elbow that has the orange silicon on the inside also?
Well I replaced the hose a few days ago and put on about 150 miles. The hose is dry as a bone. Before it would have been moist after only a day of driving. Well worth 50 bucks.
Can anyone supply part numbers for these newer type hoses? I might be willing to pay out of pocket to get these hoses to stop making a mess! I have a good relationship with my service advisor, hopefully I can get him to change them out as a warrenty repair.
