1992 Ford F-150 Steering Problems
My truck has suddenly developed a steering problem. It now has about 1/4 turn of play before it begins to turn left. There is no play when turning right except that the steering wheel centers from the left turn before it begins to go right. I have checked the tie rod ends, as good as I can, and find no apparent problems there. Any ideas? I'm afraid it is the "steering box." How hard is it to change out?

Not too bad to change out. Pretty straight forward, just disconnect everything around it haha. You'll need an alignment afterwards though. Also might want to invest in a "pitman arm puller". They usually have them at autoparts stores or Sears. That thing can be a pain to get off the steering box. Before you take the whole box off you might want to try tightening the adjustment screw on top of the box. I don't know if it will help but it's worth a shot.
