Ok this is different, i get a good fuel leak about every other day when first starting the engine, i believe that its it puddling somewhere but I can find it...ive checked the normal stuff, fuel bowl and valley pan there is a little fuel there but not enough i can see to really over flow there running on the ground.....
any idea...or i might just have to tear most of the stuff off the top of the engine to get in there and look better...dont really have time to do that but its my only other option...thanks

Reason: spelling
I've noticed that with the onset of the cold temps alot of us are having fuel leak issues. It is more than likely the o rings at the water separator. You can replace the whole valve(60 bucks from Ford) or just buy the o rings for about ten bucks. some one will be along shortly with the url. Search for fuel drain valve tons o reading!!I will say that the valve is a PITA. I removed the bracket for the GPR and Intake heater relay to get more room to work. Good Luck
Fuel line connections when the oring go bad. These are a square edge oring resembling the rubber tires on toy electric slot cars
The passenger side fuel rail return line will rub through on stock bracket and then finally turn into the batman smoke screen once it cracks all the way through. I know because of 2 trucks with many a miles.
oring kit for valve..10 online from powerstrokeshop.com
fuel line orings are about 27 from dealer
fuel line return is about 50 from dealer.
yesterday i did green the valley pan hose down and then take a blow gun with alot of pressure and long extension and dry out the valley pan....it does seem that it could be the valve on the filter assembly I can see that it is running from there area...but when i rub my hands all over the filter area I dotn get any diesel on my hands...really hard to see up under there
ok..another one for the fuel/water valve on the filter bowl....today it got really cold here in lower michigan and low and behold there was the diesel really leaking good this time, and yes it was from the valve, the rubber hose that conects the valve to the drip tube and the valley pan finaly showed its signs....36 buck for new valve assembly (didnt want to wait for the O-rings online) and not a drop...just in time for the really cold stuff comming in and it really took some cold weather to find it....thanks for everyones help
I replaced those O-rings a couple of weeks ago, took the old ones down to hardware store, matched them up and was back on the road for $1.04 VS. $30+ from ford.
I dont think I've driven my truck 30 miles since I installed the hardware store o-rings at least 3 weeks ago. However, on another board one of the guys there told me to do that and he'd been running those o-rings for over 2 years with no problems. I figure for $1 if I have to replace them every couple of years then I'm way ahead of paying ford $40 so they'll last another 100k
