Does anyone have a firing order diagram for my 1965. It has either a 292 or a 352. I'm not sure which engine. The guy I bought it from said it's a 292. Kragen says 292 Auto Zone says 352. Someone here said 352. Any help would be appreciated.
I doubt your engine is a 292. It was discontinued after '62. I can't imagine somebody swapping in a Y-block.
It's probably a 352 FE series engine.
If the distributor is in the rear, it's a Y-block. Firing order 15486372
Distributor in the front, 352. Firing order 15426378
If it is an FE series engine the firing order should be visible on the intake manifold, just behind the distributor.

Ok then it's a 352. Where is the number 1 on the distributer cap. It is not numbered.

Hi Bobby, I believe it was 64 when the Y-block was dropped. The FE was introduced to the pickup in 65.
Rudedude you will have to find top dead center TDC. This is done by rotating the crank shaft either by bumping the starter or using a big socket and breaker bar. You should start by pulling the number one spark plug and using a wooden dowl about 10 inchs long, place the dowl in the spark plug hole and rest it against the piston, rotate the engine until the dowl comes all the way up and look at the timing marks on the damper. This should get the distributor in the correct position. Put your rotor on and it sshould be pointing at the number one location of the number one spark plug wire.
