carburetor woes
I'm looking for help identifying my carb. It's a Motorcraft 4 bbl mounted on a '73 460, (casting is D3). There is a "10" embossed on the casting of the carb, facing toward you with the hood open. There is no metal tag, but there is a sticker under the air filter gasket, but it's unreadable except for ". . . quality carburetors" and the printing is blue on white. I'm leaking gas onto the intake manifold, and having a lot of trouble starting and running after the engine is warm. It starts right up after sitting, and runs great until well warmed up. After that it just turns over and won't catch. If I do mange to get it going, it won't idle, I have to rev in neutral and drop into drive when the light changes. Today I accidently did about a 5 second burnout 'cuz the surrounding traffic noise was too loud. It was just tuned up 5 months ago, but sat for the last 6 weeks. The carb has always leaked (since I got it 2 years ago) but I was saving a rebuild or swap for later since it always ran well, and I had other things I wanted to do. Any ideas or advice welcome. Thanks.
