alt will not charge, 4th alt, new battery and belt all conections good. all fuses look good grounds good , what controls the voltage reg , does anyone have schem for 2000 excursion v 10, HELP
The Light Green wire with a Red stripe controls it at the "I" terminal and tells the alternator to start charging. With power on this wire it will charge and no power no charge.
I do not know what controls this wire on a 2000 but a 1996 the Ignition switch does and on a 2005 the PCM controls the power to this wire. I do not know if yours is like the 96 or the 2005.
I can post a diagram of either system if you like.
Also take a voltmeter and measure the large output terminal on the alternator with the engine off. You should have 12 volts there.
Have you checked the voltage at the battery with the engine running? What is it? Does the battery light in the dash light up to say the alt is not charging?
it does measure 12 volts at term, and the battery light is on , it reads 12 volts while running and this is im guessing only the battery i cant seem to find out why the alt wont charge
