I got the dreaded gauge sweep after starting, and replaced the battery. I had no other indication that it might be going, but as it was 5 years old, it seemed likely. I still occasionally get the sweep, sometimes even after a very short stop.
What's the next thing to look at?...ignition switch, relay, starter? Or can I safely ignore this? (It always starts well.)
I would ignore it unless it causes a problem. Sometimes If I have a little problem, and it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the vehicle, I let it go and keep an eye on it. Sometimes it will get worse and then the real problem becomes apparent. Sometimes it becomes a quirk and never hurts anything for years.
