removing old cab
removing old cab
Recently picked up an 88 Ford f150 V6 regular cab for 800 bucks and I took it to my mechanic fso that he could ascertain what I'd need for a safety certificate so that I could procure some insurance up here in Canada.
The news was remarkably good however the cab is extremely rusty and hence, shot.
My mechanic suggested to replace the cab. Take the old one off and buy a used one that I could replace the original with.
My question is that although my mechanic said it was not a terribly hard job, I've enevr taken apart a truck before so I'm unsure where the mounting bolts are etc.
My mechanic gave me a list of what to do.
Hood off, doors off, seat off, disconnect wiring harness, disconnect steering column, unbolt box and remove so you can slide the cab back, unbolt cab.
Any help or direction someone can point me in is welcome. I'm just not sure where everything is. These things are always more involved than they sound.

also add to that to disconect brake lines. just a question how bad is the cab. is it just floors rotted out and need new panels put in or is it collapsed at rear cab mounts? mine was rotted badly in floor area and cab corners were shot but i just welded in with new sheet metal. depending where in canada you live could designate what is allowed for repairs on the floor area but if new matal is put in ans sealed from fumes it should pass mvi. i live in nb and know what the salt does to them.
thanks for the reply
Yeah the floor of the cab is completely shot..mechanic said that the seatbelts aren't actually really moored to anything.
I was wondering if anybody actually knew where all the mounting bolts are or had an exploded view of the parts etc. so I can locate the motuning bolts, brake lines etc. and not pull anything out or destroy anything I will need.
The mechanic said it would be easier to remove the box as well so we could slide the cab back instead of having to pick it straight up I guess. He said there were minimal bolts really holding things on.
