Hello, I have a 65 F-100 with a 240 and 3 speed transmission. The problem is when the engine is at idle and the clutch is engaged, I get this fast "knock" almost like a rod is loose. But when I start to disengage the clutch it stops. It also happens at low speeds driving down the road. It is coming from somewhere around the clutch area and I don't think it is a rod loose. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks
I have seen this problem before. It sounds like the throw-out bearing and/or a damaged pressure plate. It is possible that you have a loose flywheel. The problem is you have to pull the transmission to inspect for these problems. Once you remove the tranny you can look in there to spot problems. You have to remove the bellhousing
to change the clutch and pressure plate. Good luck.

will it make the same noise in gear as well as out of gear? will it make it at idle, clutch dis-engaged, in neutral, shift lever over to the left?
im getting at a broken retainer inside the trans, or a dog broken off the first gear syncronizer.
