VIBERATIONS/65 240 3sp column
hey thanks for all the help so far. i have fixed the brake lights, temp unit ect. now i am going to focus on the clutch and pressure plate. i havn't been into the clutch yet but will soon. i have a question first, when the truck is running no matter if it is nuetral or gear,no matter if the clutch is engaged or disengaged it viberates bad. almost like a "hula-hoop" affect. sounds to me like it comes from the transmission area but it is hard to tell. i don't have a missing cylinder i've checked that already. it is a 65 240 w/3 sp on the tree. it is something out of balance, it seems to me. if anyone can help i would appreciate it.

This part isn't rocket science....you already noted that you must focus on the clutch area. Another possibility which was previously pointed out to you was the motor or tranny mounts. Check them first to see if there is damage or they are loose. Then pull the bellhousing to inspect the clutch. Your likely due for at least a disc and throw-out bearing. Your tranny input shaft may have a bad bearing.
Another item to examine is the pilot bearing. That is also a common source of vibration. It is quite possible that it is severely worn or you do not have one. Perhaps someone converted to standard and omitted to put one in. That would cause the problem you describe because there would be no way for the clutch disc to properly center while disengaging/engaging. Inspect things carefully as you go along, but be thorough.
God luck.
