no start problem
I just got a '79 F-250 with a 460. I can't get the truck to start. I don't have spark at the distributor and with just the key on i have around 6 volt at the coil. Is this right? If not what should be the first thing i should check.

The ignition system needs 8 volts to operate.
Do you have a multi-meter (V.O.Meter ) ?
We need to test some circuits.
Battery condition ?
You need a fully-charged battery for test purposes .
Need to:
Measure voltage at coil when key in Start position
Voltage at coil with key in RUN position.
Get back with those figures.
