Hey Ted,I realize that you were doing this 1 1/2 years ago,but you never gave us a follow up on the exhaust system replacement.. I am currently making a list of projects to do on my "X" after I get the TT towing system tweaked today.Would appreciate the follow up,that is, if you can remember...(but then you're probably not as old as I am)

Actually, this thread was created on October 5th, just a little over two weeks ago. So all the info contained within is recent and new.
You might be confusing his join date with the post date.
My only gripe (if you can call it that) with the MBRP system is it's too quiet at WOT. There's a vid clip of a truck on Beans Diesel Performance web page that sounds incredible at WOT. I wish my MBRP sounded just like that. More GROWL and volume!

I haven't purchased the set yet, as I'm getting ready to move closer "down east" (as we say here in MD). Will prolly get it done in the next month or so, but it may have to wait until after the first of the year. I will let you know how it went, although from what I understand from feedback to this post, it shouldn't be a big deal.
Mr. Harvey,
To me, while WOT operational Growl is a plus, (cause it scares cats away ;-) ), after reviewing price vs. performance vs. quality vs. ease of install, I htink I can afford to trade that item off. Besides, I like "sleepers".
Thanks again to everyone who took the time to give me their $0.02!
I stand corrected.. Yes,I did confuse join with current date....How ever I'm gonna be waiting as I'm gonna do the exhaust and intake sometime after the first of the year..Gonna do the seatcovers and floor mats first and since I'm getting the sheepskins and the heavy duty mats, that's almost as much as those things....
Yup
Started at 17 up here in the mountains.
K+N Filter added 1.5 MPG
Deisel Treat added 1 MPG
Hypertech Power Programmer added the rest
The overhead "liar" says 24.
When I get out of the mountians I get closer to 24 MPG, (the "liar says 26.5).
I have to say I'm easy on the pedal and I'm usually pretty light weight. - I'm an "old" guy and don't care that much for the neck whipping take off, especially when I drive a lot and have to pay for fuel. So, I'm economy oriented, (read Cheap!)
The stock exhaust on the 7.3L PSD is 3.5 in in diameter. That's not the whole story though. The exhause has a number of pinches and poor bends that restrict plus the stock muffle is very restrictive.
I put on a turbo back exhaust from MBRP and I could feel the difference driving immediately. Also the sounds of the MBRP is vey nice. A little more growl but no resonances and quiet on the highway. Overall my AFE Stage 2 intake makes more noise than the new exhaust.
Im also a new PSD Ex owner, and we are planning a few things to mod, 3.5 in lift, 33" tires, a tuner ,and laying under the truck i noticed that there is no room for a dual set-up on our 2000 4x4...is this the case?
also would the MBRP set-up minus the muff be too loud?
I wouldn't know how it would sound without a muffler...you might have a drone.
There are plenty of other exhaust choices if it's noyt loud enough. If you wnat to check out how the 4 inch sounds, they have sound files on the MBRP site, here:
I bought s 4" system from Warpspeed performance and it fit like a glove (I also did the the kit in 2 hours by myself) and the turbo whine at cruising speed is music to my ears. Do a search for them on Ebay, great guys to deal with.
