I am sorry.I was wrong about these engines.they run on propane and I was told they were 2 bbl holley carbs converted to LP.I pulled one off and they are 4 bbl manifolds.
Who knows what year Ford injected the 460, 351, 302, and 300??
well actually the 302 was first infected in 1983(some rumors 302 actually got it, and i mean got it, in 1982.5), as the 351w was infected in 1984. both were fords great CFI fuel system. both were only light duty emmision vehicles with cali emissions or areas that adopted cali emmisions.. the multi point injection was released in 1986 for both models (5.0-5.8).
as for the motorhomes... Deere always used the 460 carbed motor, all the way to its death in 89.5. when puchassed out by Oshkosh, the standard Oshkosh chassis motohome in 1989-93 had the fuelly 7.5l motor, but adapted for the 4bbl carb. this was intresting, as it is a stock fuelly intake with plugs and epoxy in the injector holes, and an adaptor on the TB flange. the FI did not show up till 1993 when Freightliner ( X line) took over, and killed the carb conversion. there was a manifold made for the early f600 and heavier chassis that had non machined injector ports, and an egr-carb adaptor plate.
i have a fuelly motor in a 93 Oshkosh that once held a 4180.. now it holds a 4160.. it is a strange beast..
What would be my best bet to get the best gas milage out of my 87 dually with a 460 engine right now i would have to say that i get about 6-7 mpg which is kinda sorry with the way gas prices are today
