Oil Rant
Sigh... Where I live, in Victoria, there seems to be a "shortage" of Diesel 15w-40. As I went shopping for some oil today, Canadian Tire, Walmart and Lordco were all out of the brand name stuff. This happens all the $%&*#@! time when I want to change my oil.
Canadian Tire had their house brand, as well as the "even cheaper then the house brand" stuff that comes in the leaky bottles with a lone API rating on it. In Canada, where I live, we don't get really great choices for diesel oils, or all of the cool synth oils you get below the 49th. Heck, Shell Rotella should be called "El Nino" up here because I see it once every 4 years.
I finally broke down and grabbed the house brand, as this was the only stuf I could get 14 litres of in one shot.
What REALLY grinds my gears, is that I have to hold my nose and put it(The House Brand) in with my $50 Fleetguard LF9027 full flow/bypass combo filter that I use to extend my OCI just a little (It does a great job visually, I have an oil analysis on the way).
Am I a loner here, or does this happen elsewhere too?

Misterfisher.. I hear ya..we are lucky i guess that we can get Shell rotella T, dino and syn from our nearest Walmart.. I do understand if you ask walmart to order a certain oils that they carry, they will. Maybe you will have to order it afew months ahead of your oil change to get it. Have you asked them to order it? Also i did a google search for ya and found Shell Canada with a contact link.. I would email them and ask what is going on.. here is the link:

I use Shell synethic 5W40 and love it.. Shell is about ready to release their lastest upgraded Rotella T soon.. It will CJ-4. Good Luck.

Since you are my neighbor to the north, this might be helpful. I buy from Thunderbird oil in Arlington, WA. and they deliver to my shop in Seattle, WA.
