No, I have the APC rear led taillights in black & they were a 5 min install, Just plug 'em in

What about the orange outer side plate located on the outer portion of the lens unit? If you notice, the stock unit has the orange reflector on the lens and the stealth bulb unit is missing.

The stealth bulb goes into your stock headlights, it's a replacement bulb for your blinker, the replacement I beleive you are refering to uses a amber bulb
I use a projector headlight with stealth bulbs and led markers myself as well as led tails

If you get the taillight assemblies that have LEDs in them, you shouldnt need resistors, it should be built in. BUT, i have never used them so i couldnt say im 100% sure

yeah i know the dot marking really doesnt mean a lot if they are strict on the rules where ever yall might live. around my area they dont really care if the bulbs are amber or white. just no other colors, ive done asked the pd and everything back a couple years ago when i did it to one of my old cars.

if you have an 04 up F150 you WILL need resistors so the bulb out indicator system doesnt get tripped

actually its so simple many people never think about it. There is a way to do it without breaking the seal on the headlight assembly. youll need a flat head screwdriver and some long needlenose pliers or tinsnips (i used tinsnips), a comfortable chair, and time to kill. Remove the headlight, and the bulbs and bulb sockets. Use the screwdriver, through the side bulb hole, and push the orange lens until it pops loose inside the headlight assembly. Then, all you have to do, is shake it into the headlight lens, and break it into tiny little pieces that come out the headlight bulb hole. It may be tedious, but you dont have to crack the lens off the housing and have to worry about it resealing again.

Forgive the foggy photo, but this was my result. Im very happy with it, and it was free!!

Wink

You may have to install resistors in the rear tailights for extra current draw for leds. I installed a couple of leds 360 in the rear tails. They lighted up the area great (no dead areas). However when the truck was running or the key was on the run position, one led light on both sides stayed lighted.
The leds were installed on o5 Lariat. I hope this helps.

Bob...

I went out and looked at my turn signals...the bulb is amber...and it you look at it straight on, the reflector appears to be the same color...

BUT...if you move to one side, the amber reflection goes away. The bulb is amber, the reflector is not. So why is it necessary to remove the reflector? It looks like the reflector acts as a mirror.

It is the amber bulb that reflects off the "reflector"...the reflector has a chrome/mirror like finish.

It appears that by installing the proper bulb, nothing else is required.
