OK...... this is what I can tell you about my little problem.
89 Bronco fuel injected 302
Yesterday I turned my truck off and the rail mounted fuel pump continued to run. After disconnecting the battery for over 10 minutes it started to work normally. It would run constant after disconecting battery for a few seconds.
About 1 hour ago I was pulling into the bank and the truck stalled out. It would appear that I am having a fuel delivery issue. Power is going to the pump when key is on.
Anyone ever hear of a pump running constant?...... Is it simply the fuel pump or would you belive there is another issue?
I am waiting on the tow truck to call me so I can get it home.... Any input would be appriciated.
sounds like your fuel pressure regulator or a stuck open injector. Pull the vacum line off of the FPR if gas is present then that is your problem. also pull the oil dipstick out and smell if for fuel, if present you might have a bad injector if the first thing i mentioned isnt present.
Sounds like the fuel pump relay to me. I have had one stick, as the contacts become worn. By the same token, it will stay off, when it's suppose to be on, too. The relays are cheap, less than $10, and easy to replace. Try it.
