Hi, I tried searching but couldnt find anything to help. Heres my problem. Last weekend I put 650 miles on my truck. (99.5, 4x4, 6spd, reg. cab) All was well for the first 150 miles, then my EGT would spike and it would defuel. The truck was empty and I usually keep the edge in the "tow" mode. It seems to run best there. The EGT warning is set at 1100. I usually see my EGT at 6-650 at cruise speed. When pulling a hill it might get to 1000. I was able to see it jump on the display one time and it went from 800 straight to 2000. That is what is leading me to believe the edge is faulty. Would anything cause that dramatic of a jump? Wouldn't I smell it if it was actually that hot? There was no rhyme or reason to when it would happen. I at first thought it was altitude related because I was about 7500' when it started. I continued down the mountain and it continued to defuel when it felt like it. I put it back in "stock" position but it didn't seem to help. It even did it in the morning before the engine was fully warmed up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Oh yeah, other than the edge the truck is stock, I've driven and towed with it for 10k miles trouble free.
Sounds like it's faulty to me. EGT's don't mysteriously "spike". They climb at a steady rate with accelleration and load. Plus, it's completely impossible for your truck to raise the EGT's to 2000 degrees.

You could see 2000, but it is deffinately a faulty reading from the chip/sender
Thats pretty much what I was thinking. I dont think the temp probe is seperate, I'll probably have to replace the whole thing. Has anyone else had this problem with the edge unit? Thanks for your feed back.
