I have an '89 F-150 4X2 with a 6 inch Skyjacker lift. My problem is that when I bought my lift kit I didn't know about blocks increasing axle wrap and breaking apart. I've found a good spring shop that will build me some custom springs for about 500 bucks. I figure since I'm going that far I'll get a military double wrap (2 mains) and a extra inch or two of lift cause my truck is pretty flat as is. I know that just getting a taller spring will increase the spring ratio and make the ride stiffer whitch is fine cause my 1 year old OE springs are too soft anyways.
My question is does anyone know how much stiffer an 8" taller spring would be? Or how to calculate the spring ratio?
I figured I could move my spring mounts farther apart slightly to allow for a gentler curve but still have the extra lift.
Has anyone done anything similar that may help me?
thanks
