power steering gear swap question?

ok i got a complete front end out from under a 79 f-150 to include coils trailing arms and steering with the gear box. now the question is were the gear boxes mounted further back on the 79's? if so will the pitman arms change over because the truck had a 3" lift on it so the pitman arm from hte 79 was part of a lift kit, and will my steering wheel linkage connect to the input on that gear box or am i gonn have to get something made.

FL, I don't understand your question, a 79 is a direct hole to hole bolt up back to 65. Are you using 2wd to 2wd? In your question you said 79 F150 and in your sig is 72 f100 4x4. That is why I ask. 2wd and 4wd parts don't exchange.

thanks

i aquired a complete front end from under a 79 f150 4x4when comparing the 2 steering gears the pitman arm on my 72 points to the rear of the truck. the steering gear off of the 79 if it were mounted to a frame would be pointing straight forward.

Thanks for providing more info, I think one of the 4X4 guys will have a better answer, than I could provide.

Does the 79 mount on the inside on the frame? I do think that they are very differant. The 72 I think is more look my 66 F-100 4x4, and what I finaly did to get power steering on it, was to put on a Toyota steering box. Or you can try to find a power assist from a mid 70's 4x4, but with that you got that steering ram out frontof the axle.

I have a 1970 f100 4X4,used 1979 F150 4X4 steering box and steering arms.
You must move steering box toward rear and drill new hole
Swap complete front end
