Anyone using 63" Chevy springs?
The goal: To have a rear suspension that flexes well, rides smooth, provide lift, and is cheap. My plan will cost about $75.
The truck and intended purpose: 1979 Bronco frame with a 360/C6/NP205. The frame will get the truck cab and bed from the white '78 in the background. I don't do rocks... just street driving and mud.
I plan to use stock hangers from the front of the rear spring from a Chevy 4wd to replace the front hanger on the Bronco frame. These brackets will mount the spring about 2" lower than the Bronco brackets. I will use the front hangers from a Chevy 2wd for the shackle flip or I may home-brew a bracket. These hangers will fit the Chevy 2.5" spring. Then I want to use shackles from Kert, maybe the 7" model http://www.diy4x.com/suspension.htm The Chevy springs will increase my wheelbase by about 8", which would make the wheel well opening in the bed look better since it's going on such a short frame.
I think this should ride nice and flex well, and will only cost me $75 for the shackles.
