There is a squeeking coming from the front left of my truck, that worsens when the wheels are turned to the right and isn't there when turning left. It wasn't too bad originaly, just a squeek squeek as the tire revolved, but now it is often constant.
I've heard a squeeking noise on my other car when turning, that noise doesn't appear always but sometimes. it is high in frequency and it comes from the power steering pump.
might be the same in your case.
definetly isn't the power steering, I know this is coming from somewhere in the left wheel assembly. I've slowly driven through a parking lot with my head out the window trying to diagnos the sound.
I will try to look at the brakes sometime, but I don't have any jacks, or an impact wrench to get the tires off at school. However I hesitate to think it's the brakes as the squeeking occurs with out the brakes applied.
Actually when it's brakes.. it's common to STOP SQUEEKING when you apply the brakes. There is a small tin tab that sticks out the side of the pad, designed to make noise to let you know the brakes are low. When you apply the brakes, they flex outwards just enough to not contact the rotor (we're talking thousandths of an inch here).
Likewise when you turn the bearing flexes just enough to either allow contact or not.
It's your brakes... a lot of shops offer free brake inspections just make sure they show you before you buy anything.
