Just got 62 f-100...where to begin

Hello everyone...
New to this forum. Just inherited 62 F100. Runs, some rust. Was just an old work truck sitting in uncles barn. Not sure yet what direction to take. Truck has mild rust, wood bed mostly gone. I need driver door glass though. Best source? Also, door tag list engine as 114 h.p. @3600 r.p.m. What is likely cu.in. of this inline six. Is there a later model V8 conversion that works nicely? Any ideas...i'm open for suggestions.
Any good sites for body parts such as hood hinges would be great. Thanks for your help everyone. I look forward to hearing your ideas.
Thanks!

Hi BubbaBob. Welcome to FTE. I don't wanna shy you away from this forum any, as there's a bunch of great guys(and gals) here, but right above this forum is the 61-66 forum. They could probably help you better with engine swaps and stuff like that. As for the original I6, some of the guys here know quite abit about them. Good luck, and great inheritance!

Ford used a lot of variables so engine swapping becomes something of an artform. I can't answer most of your questions, but the I6 is the venerable 223 cid.

I have a 62 F100 unibody with the same engine. I've had mine for a couple of years and still can't decide what to do with it. I'm thinking about installing a 300 six I have sitting here. 302 is probably the easiest of any swaps.

It would always be fun to use a period correct V8 - either the Y blocks or an FE. Check out the engine forums for specifics. I don't think your bellhousing will bolt up to much of anything newer, but I could be wrong. If you go with something newer, be sure to grab the bell with the engine.

Havi is right tho, you'll get more info up in the slick 60's forum.

Have fun and enjoy the journey with your new truck! Tim

Thanks for the info and advice. I thought I was in the other forum, but guess I got a little lite headed with all the posts to read. I'll jump up a bit and take a looksee. Thanks again!

You can put any engine in there but the choice should be based on what you want out of the truck and how you intend to use it.
