okay, different program. The one I saw was a guy who wanted to build a house out of nothing but supplies on his land, a saw, and twine (for time's sake). He did a job of building a house, and didn't want his neighbor to see, cause he know he'd throw a fit.
That sounds like a very interesting thing to do but I highly doubt I could do that. I need people around me and being that isolated would drive me crazy.
that guy was made out of barbed wire and thorn needles....he could chop wood all day and hall rock in his canoe all night. He was all by his lonesome in a unforgiving environment....some may call him reckless...a guy would bring him supplies once in a blue moon by helicopter.
I saw a bit of it, the part where he was ripping logs into 1x and making a bear proof lock for his door. He's my Idol. I'd totally do it if I could get hooked up to the net.
I have a buddy outside of Anchorage that owns and operates a float plane service. It's his retirement gig. His description of what he does: "I'm witnessing the transformation of the last American Frontier. My great-grandchildren will be reading books about the things we see and do today. Every day, I get to see and experience things most men dream of doing once in a lifetime."
His face is in my personal mental dictionary next to the word "cool."
