Any down side to removing the "shield" (and the accompaning bracket) that sits just in front of the fuel filter and leaving it off? My back doesn't appreciate bending over the engine for any length of time and my wallet is too cheap to pay someone else to change the filter!
i have a cover and bracket that i took off when i did my fuel system, there is no filter bowl to protect. the cover is painted blue "powerstroke" on it, and it's the 2001+ design, not the earlier design.
I just went out and took the brackett off... the "shield" is nowhere to be found. I looked all over the shop and DID find those bandsaw blades I've been looking for but no shield. Maybe I'll trip across it in the next few days. Grrrrrr.
