5 Speed Swap 95 Bronco... help getting started
Hey guys, my buddy has a 95 bronco 351 a/t. It has about 145,000 and the tranny is about ready to let go. We are looking at swapping a 5 speed into it but i dont know jack about fords so i need a little help.
What kind of transmission should I look at? What all trannys bolt up to the 351 block, just 351s or are they interchangeable with 302s and other motors? Is the driveshaft (front and rear) distance going to change? Will we need a different transfer case or will the stock one work alright?

You have two choices for the tranny. A M5OD or a ZF. Both have overdrive, but the ZF has a granny gear and is also considerably stronger than the M5OD.
300's, 302's, and 351's all share the same bellhousing pattern, so a tranny behind any of those motors will fit. Your transfer case will be fine, as long as (obviously) the donor vehicle is a 4x4.
Not sure on the length, though. If it is different, you will have to mess with driveshaft lengths and transfer case linkage, if it's a manual case.
You will also probably have to use the correct crossmember for the tranny.
