I have a 93 F150 with a 302. I can't figure what else to do so I am going to clean the injectors and replace the o rings. I am having trouble with the first start every day and was told that it could be a leak in the injectors. Is there anything else I need to do while I am at it? Also does the intake have to come off to get at the passenger side? Any and all tips will be appreciated.
93 F150, 302.
The first start of the day is a problem that I have to (prime) cover the throttle body (top and bottom) while cranking before it will start. I have finally purchased a fuel pressure gauge and the pressure is in the range when it is running and leaks down overnight. That is what I am talking about leaking.
Now I have more problems it started missing on me over the weekend and is showing DTC's 53,41,31. I have read on all of these and the pinpoint guides or whatever are like reading greek. Is there a simple solution???
I replaced the O2 sensor. Cleaned the EGR and put it back and also cleaned the iac which isn't very old also the tps isn't very old. both less than a year.
I have used the pinpoint guides. It took me a while to get use to them along with the multimeter. The problem is that you may end up replacing a lot of parts to find out in the end it is a simple wiring problem such as a connector or a frayed wire that works but is producing some eronius signals causing the truck to missbehave. I found with my limited experience with the wiring diagram and the pinpoint guides it makes a little more sense as to what you are testing. Generally you are checking for continuity of the circuts back to the computer, or to ground, or looking for specific voltages at the appropriate places. Take it one wire and one circut at a time . I dont think there is an easier way for this type of diagnostics. I would spent more time on the pinpoint guides before I got into the fuel injectors and o-rings at this point. Look at the wires and pay close attention to all of the connectors undr the hood. Take them apart and look for signs of corrosion and clean them up. Slightly tug on the wires as they may look ok but are hanging by a thread.
