carb swap ?'s

Hey everyone! I've got an 86 F-150 with the 300 six. Great engine! I would like to get rid of the feedback carb, but am unsure if getting rid of it would cause ignition problems. I'm not real sure how these carbs work, but I do know they have a throttle position sensor. The reason I would like to get rid of this thing is the fact that I've had a rat chew up a bunch of the wires going to this carb. The wires going to the solenoid like thing on the drivers side of the carb are completely disconnected as well as the wires going to the inline solenoid inline with one of the PCV lines. It still seems to run fine, but I'd just like to get rid of the mess and start over.

If you switch to a different carb, you will need to switch your ignition to the older (better) duraspark II.

What years have the Duraspark II ignition system? Is this an easy swap? Is there a computer involved? What parts do I need to rob off the donor vehicle?

Thanks for your input!
