Just thought I would throw it out there for all who have followed the forum for a while. I have been saying the truck has been cranking slower and slower. Always started but knew the batts were on their last legs. Pulled them last weekend and had tested, both indicated a replacement. Good run for stock batts but 6 years is enough.
Now it cranks like I have never experienced. I mean it starts like that. Just a little cool weather was running it down with the WTS cycle. Now it hits instantly. Unfortunately, my tach will still not move one bit during startup, and it is really spinning now. I can't figure it out but I know my CPS is not failing as I have no probs, at least yet. But I am ready with the Ebay replacement when it happens.
So that is a mod setback because it is simply a maintenance item, but one I needed.
Tenn01, I need to replace my batteries asap. What batteries did you put in your truck?
Thanks
Same question here (look at my thread from yesterday). What is the procedure of replacing the batteries? In the sense, do I need to disconnect the passenger side Battery first or driver side first? Any link for this?

Sorry, back on shift right now and it's a bear. I have not had any probs or even thought about the order of disconnecting the batteries. No issues thus far. They are wired together so to speak but I usually disconnect the driver side first but have done it the other way.
I bought the Wally brand. I was pleasantly surprised that they have just changed the model to a 1000 CA and 850 CCA unit. $62.50 a piece and I get a 10% discount, yeah, I work for them from time to time off duty doing security. 3 year replacement warranty and they are about everywhere.

Ford changed the tach system on 2002 and later trucks and you will not see tach movement during cranking. Tenn with an 01 you should see a little movement. Mine wont move untill right before she fires and then it jumps to 100-300 rpm
