I'm trying to remove my front passenger tire and it seems to be stuck to the hub. I have kicked it, hammered all around it and added lubricant trying to remove the tire and nothing works. I have to get it done today so I can finish replacing my brakes. I replaced the driver side with no problem and now I am stuck because of this wheel. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the tire? After hammering all around it I don't know what to do. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
hit that sum biotch from the back side, i work at tire kingdom and ppl that come in from the north, sometimes thier rims are stuck to the hub too from rust or wutever, and u gotta use a big ole sludge hammer.
I agree with the other 2 guys. I work at a Ford dealer and we use a 25lbs sledge hammer. Hit it as hard as you can while rotating it around, just don't hit the rim. I had a rotor do that to me today. Darn near broke it in half trying to get it off, The truck actually moved on the hoist.
As an absolute last resort, you can put the lug nuts on hand tight so they just touch the wheel. Then do a couple of circles in a parking lot, this will break the rim free from the hub, but it may do a little damage if you get too into the turn. Several times we have had to do that at the dealership. Normally they come off with a little rust penatrant and a 10lb dead blow sledge. Swing from the back HARD and rotate the tire around. Sometimes it helps to have a person on the front side hitting the opposite side to kinda teeter totter it on the hub. Just make sure either way that you have at least one lug nut threaded on to keep the tire from flying off.
