Power window help needed!!!
Searched for the answer, but after reading 10 pages I gave up.
A friend of mine has a 99 Expedition in which he was trying to replace the window motor.
Long story short, while doing the swap, the spring (the one that can take your finger off) came loose and now he has to reinstall it.
Does this spring have to be preloaded a certain amount? Does anyone have a how-to or tech manual that outlines the process?

Are you talking about a spring that winds up like a clockspring? I have never worked on the newer vehicles, and didn't know they still used them. If that's what it is, you can roll the window all the way up, and possibly get it on there. I have done a few in older vehicles. They get tighter as the window rolls down, and counterbalance the weight of the glass.
