VSS or RABS
Hey,
I have a problem with the discriptions that I have been reading on the forum about the vechile speed sensor or the rear ABS controler sensor?
I had a problem with my truck a few months ago, all the signs that the " VSS "
had gone. This is what I was told on the forum, I want to add that I want to clear up what is what to us all. The part is/was the RABS and not the VSS.
RABS is located on the rear diff. Part replaced problem fixed
Now,new problem/throwing a code ,OD light flashing, tech says VSS. I want to know does my 95 f250 have a VSS on the trans and what do I need to tell my parts person?? Where do I look for the VSS on the trans?

The sensor in the rear diff is called both a VSS and RABS sensor in the Ford factory service manual. Some sensors serve more than 1 function.
You need to do more investigating if the VSS/RABS sensor is new. Check the plug/wire harness going to the sensor.
How long was it fixed?
Is the trans shifting OK?
Is it stopping OK?
Clear the code and see if it returns.
