I have a 1988 f150 witha 4" lift. Whenever i got over bumps, my front end shakes, and can only find that the bushings in the axle drop mounts are loose. My wheels bearings are good, shocks etc etc. This is the only thing i can find that could be causing this play. I am wondering if there are replacement bushings, if they have to be pressed in, etc and what process it will be to install them
do you mean the radius arm bushings that go from the axle to under the the cab on the frame rails? If so then go to the auto parts and get some radius arm bushings. I find it's easiest to grind the rivets off and replace them with the proper size( diameter/length, I don't remember the size.) grade eight bolts and bolt it together.
Yes you can buy the axle pivot bushings seperately. There are many places to get them, but I have found that www.rockymountainsusp.com has about the best prices I've seen.
thanks, they are the axle pivot bushings. I replaced my radius arm bushings when I did the lift.
I got it up on the hoist and found that my steering is a little loose. I am going to try tuning the gear box a little and see if that helps, or is the problem
Do these bushings have to be pressed in? I cant remember what they looked like when I was doing the lift, but I imagine i will have to take my coils, unhook the brake lines. I remember I put the axles into the mounts before I did my radius arm brackets. Will it be easy to keep the radius arms in the drop brackets, Or will I have to take them out to put the axles in?
