I searched pages and pages for a thread on this topic. I found one that said the stock Ford intake with stock filter works great. So here's my questions
Does an after market intake help performance and gas mileage?
What brand would you recommend? (I would want something that goes in easily without cutting anything inside the engine compartment)
Does a cold air intake work better?
Will it affect my warranty?
Any and all opinions are welcome...thanks for the input.
1. Nothing substantial, and certainly not enough to ever pay for the cost of the filter.
2. Ford/Donaldson OEM
3. Look for the Zoodad mod
4. Yes, it can, if the dealer/higherups complain. Especially if your engine ingests dust/dirt/contaminants as a result of poor filtering.
A smaller boot will help with fuel mileage...
IMO, nothing filters better than a Donaldson filter, some other filters may allow more air to get through, but with that air comes more dirt. Turbos don't like dirt.
We are not supposed to warranty a dusted turbo if the factory filter is not in place.
I have to agree with everyone.... I have done a grip of mods to my truck, but one thing I will not touch is the factory intake and Donaldson filter, it isn't all trick looking like an aftermarket one, but the particulate filtering and C.F.M. flow capacity is second to none.
