I am thinking of adding a ride rite air suspension to my 2004 F250 V10.I tow about 10,500 lbs.and i want to have the truck as level as i can.Any info on this system would be helpful.
I was looking at the same thing and the firestone air bags. Any information on the reliability, ride quality, ease of use would be greatly appreciated.
Did not mean to hijack your thread MOC but I was going to do the same one.
I have air lift air bags with smart air on my 05, and just love them. Add weight and the on-board compressor adds air, remove the weight and it automatically dumps the air to return to normal ride height. www.trucksprings.com is a good site to research for help.
i have it on my 05 250 sd and its awesome.very easy to put in. i just put 2 nipples in my rear bumper to fill them up.i tow a 4 place horse trailer. and i have no problems and it rides super level.
I have an F-350 psd with the Firestone air bags. I intentionally bolted them to the frame 50% compressed. I run 30 lbs. of air when unloaded. this gets me up off of the 1 ton suspension. Much softer ride. 100 PSI greatly improves handling and ride hight.
I have the Air Lift bags and on board compressor with the two gauge panel so I can adjust each bag separately. I have the compressor mounted behind the back seat, the gauge panel is in the console and the power is coming thru the #1 Upfitter switch. Works great. I have used the Ride Rite system but found the Air Lift system to be easier to mount and have better customer service.
I've had a set of Firestone Ride-rite air springs on my last 2 trucks over the last 8 years. I've had absolutely no problems with them. I believe the Airlift ones are the same price, but I went with Firestone because they make the ones for the big trucks. They work great for hauling my camper because I can adjust ride height with air pressure. They also help stabilize the truck because when the truck leans in a turn, the pressure will rise in the low-side airbag and resist further compression. I've seen a lot of fiver haulers with them on their trucks also.
I actually just installed the Firestone airbags and Level Command system and I love it. I tow a heavy trailer daily and it looks and rides great. I installed the compressor under the hood, and the valve under by the pedals, actually had a perfect mounting bracket under there. Installed a 5 gallon air tank and air horns now.

Can someone Please explain to me what he means by this statement! I know this is an old thread, hopefully someone can help me figure this out. I have a 99 F350 Dually, I haul a truck camper an tow a boat, I also haul a 5th wheel and sometimes the boat behind it so I need towing ability, I am a disabled Vet with a tore up back, so when empty the truck beats me half to death, I have had the original seats rebuilt as soft as they can be, changed to better shocks, and now I am looking into airbags, My understanding of the airbags to get a better, softer ride is to remove the overloads and perhaps a leaf or two, but which leaf's? I cannot find a write up on that operation. I know of the Kelderman and equivelant that does away with springs, but is to expensive. So, what does he mean in his statement ? in my thinking it would make it harsher. Does anyone know what leaf springs to remove when adding airbags? And also wouldnt this jack the back of the truck up really high? Appreciate anything.
One more happy owners of Firestone bags. Even with empty truck they improve the ride of my flatbed and stopped the propulsion I was getting with the trailer.
We do have lift bags sponsor posting here and members bought bags from his company as well Do a search.
The console with valves and gauges plus compressor are optional. My system holds the pressure for weeks, so I can inflate it at home.
The only thing I keep forgetting is to check the pressure after adding the load. Quite often it goes to 140 psi.
