Overdrive /C6 combo?
I am familiar with the Gear Vendors O.D. & would like opinions on this or any others available.
I am runnin g a 352 with a C6 & a Dana 60 with 3.54 gears.
I think that I am pushing the old beast on the freeway a little harder than it was intended.Even at 65 mph (I do not run a tach before anyone asks.)
So I would like to drop the ratio a bit.
I am keeping the Dana as it is bulletproof....so my only option is tranny or O.D.
I have been hearing that the Ford A.O.D.'s arent that good & probably wont lower me enough to make a good difference.
Anyone have experience with the O.D. units? Running one? How Long? etc.etc.
Thanks in advance.
I later upgraded my 3.50 rear to 2.75, so I didn't need the Nash unit anymore. Since this is not an easy option for you, the OD after unit may work.
However.
The OD unit was not designed for a pickup, but more for a larger truck or motor home. It physically didn't fit the truck well. To get it to fit, I had to cut out a section of the cab support, which runs under the seat, and also had to drop the transmission crossmember support about 1 and 1/2 inches as well for the same reason. I had the transmission crossmember under the lower frame rail, rather than sitting on top of it.
The unit worked fine, and I had no trouble with it, but it really wasn't needed for my 460, since I could run taller gears.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the answers....(both of you).
I have done the math and with the O.D. & my 16 tires I will be able to split my gears giving me a 2.77 in o.d. in 3rd which is a nessesity for me since I actually like to take trips in my truck.
what kind of mileage improvement did you see?
Thanks in advance....
I am thinking running at the higher rpms did not help my current situation with whatever happened to my motor.(bearing?,crank? who knows, will find out this coming week.
Now back to installing the progressive springs in my Thruxton!!!!
