I started out just replacing my axle shaft in my f150 8.8 rear end and now i have both spider gears and the center bolt out and cant seem to get them back in. The side gears are too far in so the center pin wont line up.
i noticed some broken dime sized pieces at the bottom of the dif that might have come from the side the base of the side gears but i am not sure. Ther were no metal particles or damaged teeth on any of the gears
Any advice on puting this back together would be appreciated
the gears mesh at an angle and can slide in and out a little lbit. you need to have a buddy rotate the tire slowly and the gear will move in or out to align itself. you need to have the tires up of the ground. slight movement of the tires or drive shaft will align the holes.
turns out the metal bits were the tabs from the clutches. The clutches seem to be be bent so i'll try to replace the clutch packs and that should be it.
