I am getting, very intermittently, a check engine light. Every couple of weeks, maybe. It goes away when I turn the truck off. Then I forget about it. This has been happening for several months.
Last time I had something done I said hey while youre at it, tell me what the darn code is. 1211. Which is ICP not controllable.
I'm a little unclear on what it really means. What I think it means is that there is insufficient oil pressure to run the injectors. I know I'm not low on oil now, or leaking. And there doesn't seem to be anything actually wrong in the way it runs, other than the light. And a sporadic light at that.
Now, this could be my own doing. I am not heavily modded at all, but I do have the Edge Juice, and most (90%) of the time I am on the first, or mileage setting. Sometimes on 2 for towing. I've put it up to 4 just to see what it does, but I never leave it there.
So the question is, is there more to the story. My pessimistic nature right now is telling me (and dancing an evil little dance while it says this) that my HPOP is heading south, which I'm not really in the mood for, financially speaking that is.
The optimistic side of me said its just because of the chip and dont worry about it, but the pessimist ripped his arm off and beat him over the head with it so he's not here anymore :-)
While I dont think any of the following is relevant, I was wrong once, back in '73, so I'll list the non stock things here in case they are important. K&N FIPK, Garret ball bearing, Edge juice with monitor, Banks intercooler, MBRP exhaust.
My tranny guy has that on his truck and gets that code too, worse case scenario is take out the sensor and clean it with wd40 and place back in, usually you get a surge when this is dirty. Easy way to tell if hpop is going south is to watch the guage on cold or first start up. 2 seconds on guage is too long and to fix the crank pump is easy cheesy and about 60 bucks. Its the pump that puts pressure to the upper resevoir. Ive done my buddies and mine in about 45 minutes. I had over 400k on mine so I doubt yours is bad, truck would run bad. Hope this knocks the devil off your shoulder.
The oil pressure gage is reading the pressure of the LPOP, not the HPOP. The P1211 is indeed common with any performance tunes on these trucks if your HPOP is getting weak. The IPR could also be causing this code if it is acting up. The most common cause of the IPR problems is the wire nut comming off and letting it bounce around. Easy to check, easy to fix. Now, the only real way to tell if your HPOP is going south is to monitor the pressure and IPR duty cycle live. It should be in the 2800 PSI range at about 35% duty cycle at WOT. You can do this with the AutoEnginuity software if you can find someone local to test it for you. It is not common for the HPOP to just quit. It can get weak, or for that matter, could have been weak since new. The programmers call for more fuel, which means more high pressure oil. If the pump can't supply enough volume, the pressure drops and sets the 1211 code. It takes 7 seconds at lower than demand pressure to set the code. If you are getting the code at anything less than WOT, then I would be looking at the IPR.

Actually, if your HPOP is really weak, it will set at less than WOT with a chip or tuner. I do it all the time. AE shows my HPOP can only hold steady at less than 2300 psi at 65% duty cycle
I just want to give a nod of thanks. I'm old as cobwebs on some forums, still pretty recent here. You never know what the response is going to be like. Appreciate the inputs.
