Headlight switch Electrical problems

AOD trans.
This is my problem, first started a couple of weeks after I bought the truck. At first the headlights were very difficult to turn off at the headlight switch, I would have to find the sweet spot where the headlights, the gauge lights and other interior lights would turn off (the lights connected to the 5 Amp # 10 fuse, in the interior fuse block). So, I replaced the headlight switch and now the headlights turn on and off perfectly but, the interior lights are still always on when the switch is plugged in, does not matter what position the ignition is in.

>From playing around with the headlight switch, I have found that when the headlight switch is plugged in, the little white ceramic interior dimmer part of the headlight switch gets very hot in very little time (maybe a minute or two). When the headlight switch is unplugged the interior lights don’t come on when the ignition switch is in the off position. However, the interior lights come on when the ignition is in any other position.

>This is my first bout with electrical wiring and it is kill me. My mechanical aptitude is not very high so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
